My story
My weight loss journey with The 1:1 Diet has been a leap of faith in every sense. After medically retiring due to a shoulder injury, my life in Canberra, far from my UK roots, often felt isolated. My faith and family’s love propelled me towards a significant life change.
My journey’s pivotal moment came at my son’s wedding. Having lost 18kg, I wore a dress which felt like a testament to my newfound health and confidence. The joy of that day, coupled with the deep connection I felt with my faith and the supportive community around me, underscored the emotional and physical transformation I’d undergone.
However, the path to that day wasn’t straightforward. During an emotional breakup and navigating challenges of living with IBS, a friend introduced me to The 1:1 Diet. Initially sceptical, I found hope in the personalised support and success stories. The diet’s meal replacements, especially chocolate shakes and fruit & nut bars became not just nutritional staples but also eased my IBS symptoms significantly.
Weekly sessions with my Consultant, Leanne, transformed from weigh-ins to meaningful exchanges about nutrition, guidance on integrating real food back into my diet, and reflections on how my faith intertwined with my journey to wellness. These moments were not just about tracking progress, they became a source of comfort and motivation.
Back in the UK supporting my mother though a health issue, I received news of an impending grandchild. This new beginning, filled with anticipation and love, fuelled my determination to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Even while away from the structure of the diet, I continued to make healthy choices, guided by the principles I’d embraced.
Returning to Australia, with the goal of completing my weight loss journey, I reflected on the profound changes in my life. This journey was more than weight loss; it was a spiritual and emotional awakening, reinforcing the importance of health, family, and community.
To those contemplating their health journey, I offer my story as a beacon of hope. Change is possible, and sometimes, it begins with a single step—or in my case, a single shake.
